Flintlock gun

Flintlock Firearms

Sunday, July 10 1-4 pm

In an era when settlers living in more remote areas, such as Talley Cavey, relied heavily on wild game for food, skill with a firearm was essential. In addition, males were needed to muster in the Militia from time to time which required skills with a variety of weapons. Today our settlers gather to demonstrate their skill with 18th century style firearms .

As always, there will be the savory scent of woodsmoke from the cooking in the Armstong's log house, attend the one-room school, then watch the blacksmith work his magic with iron. You can even engage in the quiet task of carding wool for spinning.

Demonstrations and hands-on opportunities will abound for visitors of all ages.
